Piano Tuning
Piano Tuning is the act of making minute adjustments to the tensions of the strings of a piano to properly align the intervals between their tones so that the instrument is in tune. The meaning of the term in tune in the context of piano tuning is not simply a particular fixed set of pitches. Fine piano tuning requires an assessment of the interaction between notes, which is different for every piano, thus in practice requiring slightly different pitches from any theoretical standard. Pianos are usually tuned to a modified version of the system called equal temperament. All piano manufacturers recommend semi-annual tunings.Player Piano Systems

Most often it is a lack of humidity, not an excess that is the cause of piano damage. Pianos, like other fine instruments require humidity levels of approx 45%. Your piano's health is dependent on a robust moisture content being present at all times. A Piano Life Saver manufactured by Dammp-Chaser is recommended. This system is self contained and regulates both dry and moist conditions. We cannot overstress the importance of the proper amount of humidity with regards to the health of your piano. Do not wait until the effects of low humidity damage your investment; be proactive. Low humidity will destroy even the hardiest instrument.Action Regulation
Action Regulation is the act of making the piano parts work together properly. A piano action is made of small wooden pieces that are assembled with felt spacers. As the piano is played, these felt spacers wear and the parts no longer align themselves. When regulating a piano action, great care is given to align the parts to their original specifications, thereby returning the piano to its optimum playing capacity.Touch Weight Adjustment
One of the more common complaints from piano owners and players is the playing ability of the piano. Each note has over 35 pivot and adjusting points, each one creating friction. As the friction cumulatively mounts, the action begins to feel very heavy. Touch weight adjustments are then necessary to reduce the amount of friction in the action, thereby allowing the player greater dexterity in performing.Tone Adjustment
Tone Adjustments are referred to as Voicing a Piano. As the hammer strikes the string, sound is produced at different frequencies. Harder felt will produce a brighter, crisper and sometimes harsher sound, while softer felt produces a warmer, less brittle sound. Needling the hammer felt in specific areas will create a unified sound throughout the piano. Great care is given this process so as to not weaken the felt structures of the piano hammer. A well regulated and voiced piano action also helps in producing warm musical sounds.
